Job Title: Mentor Coordinator Job Classification: Full Time, Exempt, 40 hours/week

Position Summary:

The Mentor Coordinator will oversee the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer mentors for Denver Kids. This role is crucial in ensuring that mentoring relationships are effective, positive, and

aligned with our strategic plan and mission to support the youth we work alongside. This position will also

assist in evaluation and data tracking for grant/funding purposes and continuous program improvement

while maintaining appropriate and effective written and verbal communication.

Primary Responsibilities

● Program Management

○ Develop and implement strategies to recruit mentors who are dedicated, compassionate, and aligned with our mission

○ Conduct interviews, screenings, and background checks to select suitable mentor candidates

○ Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance mentors’ skills and effectiveness.

○ Pair mentors with mentees based on compatibility, needs, and goals in collaboration with Regional Program Managers and Advisors

○ Coordinate and schedule initial meetings between mentors and mentee, and mentee caregivers

○ Offer continuous support to mentors through regular check-ins, guidance, and resources

○ Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the mentoring program

○ Collect and analyze data to improve the program and report on outcomes

○ Promote the mentoring program within the community to increase awareness and participation.

● General

○ Adhere to Denver Kids’ Policies and Procedures, inclusive of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) practices, as well as ethical standards of the field

○ Work collaboratively in a team-based setting

○ Participate in leadership/professional development including on-going training

○ Flexibility to take on or support other responsibilities across the organization

Qualifications

Required:

● Bachelor's degree in related field (Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Non-profit Management) or 4 years of experience working in youth development

● Requires current Colorado driver’s license with a clean and safe driving record

● Up-to-date, comprehensive auto insurance with limits of $100/$300/$100 and $5K in Medical Payments

Preferred:

● Experience in mentoring, youth programs, or volunteer coordination Working Conditions

● Urban city and school district

● Working with Denver Public School (DPS) students and families who may or may not face circumstances, including but not limited to, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and immigration

● Driving to and from schools, events and/or other local entities as necessary

● Regular working hours Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, occasional hours before and after, occasional weekend events

● Occasionally transport students for Denver Kids events
