2024 Community Impact Award Winners

Community Impact Awards are a way for Denver Kids to acknowledge key individuals that have had a significant  impact on our mission. 

Anita Banuelos

Anita is the Director of Community Organizing with Transform Education Now (TEN). TEN works with families across Colorado to ensure that regardless of ZIP Code, children have access to a world-class education. She has over fourteen years of experience in community advocacy, education, and governmental affairs to improve equitable outcomes in marginalized communities in the Denver Metro Area and across Colorado.

Anita joined Denver Kids in 6th grade and was part of the program for 7 years. After graduating from West High School she earned her bachelor’s degree in HealthCare Management with a minor in International Business from Metropolitan State University. Since graduating from Denver Kids, Anita has remained a dedicated supporter and advocate serving on the Young Professionals Council and being the keynote speaker at events, including the 2022 Thrives Gala. Anita believes Denver Kids will continue to change the trajectory of students’ lives.

Danielle Reubenstein

Danielle was the co-founder and Executive Creative Director of Wunderman Thompson Mobile, from 2007 until 2019. She now owns and runs an art studio, Bojiwassis, in the Denver area and volunteers her time at non-profit organizations in an effort to help improve and streamline programs that service her community.  

Danielle began working with Denver Urban Scholars in 2007, utilizing her time and technology skills to increase awareness of the programs and to fundraise. When Denver Urban Scholars merged with Denver Kids in 2019, Danielle was very excited to join the Denver Kids board and continue working with an organization that so clearly affects the lives of young people and their families in Denver. During her time on the Denver Kids Board of Directors, Danielle was chair of the data committee, assisted in strategic planning, and was a part of the CEO search committee.

Pete Wall

Pete Wall grew up in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas before attending the University of Colorado where he received bachelor’s degrees in Business and Law. After graduating, Pete practiced law in Denver for over four decades. He started his career as a law clerk for a Federal Judge and eventually formed his own firm, Burns, Wall and Mueller, P.C.. 

Pete was introduced to Denver Kids when he joined Denver Rotary in 1986 and has been a dedicated supporter and advocate ever since. Pete was a volunteer mentor to two Denver Kids students and served on the Board of Directors for several terms, including a term as Board Chair. He also attends numerous Denver Kids events and is a member of the Champions Giving Circle. Getting to know and work with Denver Kids staff, students, board members, and leaders has been one of the highlights of Pete’s life.
